Express Your Self
The Freshwater Group and Watermark are together committed to creating a culture where every member--resident or staff member--is encouraged to express their dreams. We believe that when people have the freedom and encouragement to express their individual passions, creativity, audacity, integrity or 'inner child,' they better connect with each other and communities are formed. As a result, these communities are full of spirit, character, compassion and adventure. We call them Watermark Communities.

Watermark resident Geraldyn Eckber gives an art history lecture at The Watermark at 3030 Park.

We envision each Watermark community as a place in which people can fully experience and celebrate life. We surround ourselves with extraordinary people who share that vision and sustain the culture. We want our vision to be present EVERYWHERE—not just on posters behind the reception desk. This isn’t always easy. Ideas and ideals don’t make their way through an organization overnight. In order to be successful, the vision must cast a reflection in everything we do and say.

We envision our communities as places where wellness is a way of life—not just a room where blood pressure is checked.
We envision communities where dining is food for the heart and soul, not just physical nourishment.
We envision communities where life constitutes an endless variety of engaging pursuits which are not possibly summed up by a sign on an easel that reads, “Movie of the day at 2 p.m. Bingo at 7 p.m.”
We envision communities where "transportation" is just as likely to mean a cruise to Alaska as a ride to the grocery store.
We envision communities as organizations in which everyone is encouraged to be outrageous, innovative, and extraordinary—where humor is pervasive and people are always supportive and never condescending.

We envision extraordinary people creating this vision working and living in communities that are different from all others out there. Communities that fly in the face of convention, shatter stereotypes and question rules of thumb that have come to be known as “The Truth” about how retirement communities should be..
