2005 - New Beginnings
The sale of substantially all assets of The Fountains to Sunrise Senior Living in July 2005 was the culmination of 20 years of hard work, the end of an important chapter in Freshwater's professional life, but it also heralded new beginnings. Immediately after the sale, The Freshwater Group was formed to venture into its own investment and development activities.  (See Projects to learn about our latest undertakings.)

During this transition period, David continued to direct his vision toward the future.  He endeavored to fulfill a longstanding dream: to own and create new and different kinds of seniors housing communities that would serve an emerging market.   As if selling The Fountains and launching his new company were not enough life changes for one year, David and his wife, Diana, completed the adoption of their first child, Fernando , in November 2005. While the new parents discover more joys of being a family every day, Fernando has wasted no time making himself right at home with The Freshwaters and their menagerie of dogs, cats, horses and turtles, in Tucson, Arizona.
